The Nyberg Project Reveal - K's Room

I had the pleasure of tackling the lil princess’ room at the Nyberg Project a couple of months ago and it reminded me of just how much fun kids’ rooms are to decorate! I love rooms decorated in neutrals for sure, but there is something about the playful colors in a kids’ room that just make me smile. I fell in love with the bedding for this room, and it quickly became the inspiration for the rest of the space. I was trying to avoid making this room really thematic and this whimsical bedding made that possible. It was full of colors and organic shapes, but it didn’t tie us down to one thing (i.e. mermaids, unicorns, etc.). This little client is only four years old, so we wanted it to be able to grow with her and her changing interests. This bedding easily allows for that - swap out a couple pillows or stuffed animals (or even the prints in the frames) and this room can easily be refreshed as her interests change.

By turning the bed a different direction, we were able to open up a small space at the end of the room to add a little something special. We debated whether this should be a comfy little reading area with seating and bookshelves or a little desk area for her to create masterpieces. Obviously, the latter won. She now has a space all her own to doodle her little heart out.

This room is almost complete. Once we get her big brother’s room designed, we’re going to have them both painted. The bottom half (or so) of this room is going to be painted a light pink. I can’t wait to see paint transform the space yet again. The whites are really going to pop and it will cozy up the whole room!
