It has been a few months since we gave this blog any love, so we’re here to treat you with a project we worked on this summer. We’ve professed our love for kids’ rooms HERE and HERE, and now this one can be added to the list. We had the joy of decorating a sweet little 6-year old sports fan’s room. We completed his sister’s room earlier this year, and he patiently waited for the magic to happen in his. He already had his bedroom furniture, so this became a case study in the magic of a little paint + accessories.
Those of you with little ones know that kiddos’ interests change on the daily, so we didn’t want to commit to any one sport… so we did ‘em all! A little football, a little baseball, a little basketball… soccer! This room is sure to grow with his changing interests, right?! It was so much more fun shopping for this space when we could look for a little of everything.
The focal wall in this room is surely the eclectic mix of sports pics, art, and fan paraphernalia above the bed. We wanted to add a little dimension and texture to the gallery wall, so instead of simply using pictures, we added a metal football art piece, a pennant, and a foam #1 sign - the latter making me smile every time I look at it. :) We were able to personalize a couple pieces to make it extra special for our sport’s fan, too. Not only is his name on the pennant, we used a pic of the Broncos stadium (Go Broncos!), and the large art in the middle can be used to mark off the MLB stadiums he has visited (or will!) in the USA. So fun!
We balanced out the artwork with another large piece on the adjacent wall. It was the inspo for the multi-sports theme for the room! We completed the dresser with a lamp and a place to show off his Dad’s signed Nuggets basketball and a baseball. The only thing we’re missing is a signed pic of his smokin’ hot MOM when she was a Nuggets cheerleader! (You’re welcome, Leah! Ha!)
I love when we can turn a kids’ room into a space they love even when it isn’t covered in animated characters. Mission accomplished. Now the big brother has a room to rival his little sister’s and everyone is happy. The end. :)
