Aaand… we’re back! Our team recently put the finishing touches on a new space at the Nowicki Project, and we can’t wait to show you around. (In case you missed it, you can read part one of this project reveal here!)
This modern home office was built for our client’s two kiddos to use now, but designed for them to grow into. We created a functional kid-friendly space with elevated style and accessories for the adults to appreciate, too. Homework-happy hour, anyone?

As a new-build home, everything in this office space was custom built for our clients — have we mentioned our love of custom cabinetry here before?
We worked with an expert carpenter to create a space that included lots of functional elements with both open- and closed-storage shelving and drawers. This combination allows our client’s family home office to get a little messy while work is getting done, but easily stores (ahem: hides) items away to help keep workspaces neat and clean at the end of the day.
The Basil + Tate team selected a beautiful deep shade of blue for the lower built-in cabinetry, while keeping the upper cabinets and shelving bright white — the perfect combination of color and classic for this modern family home office.
Since our client’s kids are young, we wanted to make sure this office space was one they could grow into — while still keeping it kid-friendly and fun. We added white shiplap walls, and dotted wall paper on the ceiling with brass light fixtures to add visual interest that draws the eye upwards.
Two workstations in this family home office were a must — no fighting for work space here! Our design assistant and paint-color queen, Karen, selected a beautiful deep shade of blue for these custom cabinets, and we added just enough wood and leather accents to warm up the space — keeping it light and bright, but inviting and cozy at the same time.

Classic cork boards were added above each workstation, creating a timeless combination of function and style to display artwork, photos, and those A+ homework assignments.
The Container Store really came through for us, as we added a few functional but stylish storage boxes to the open shelving area. And a super fun, colorful art print brought a pop of color to the white walls.

Opposite of the office workstations, we added a comfy blue sofa so mom and dad have a comfortable place to sit and help with homework. A modern letter board on the wall above allows room for creativity to swap out sayings and help everyone stay motivated in this fun work environment.
We added a navy blue striped rug to soften up the room, anchor furniture, and pull everything together as we put the finishing touches on this modern Denver farmhouse’s home office space.
The Basil + Tate team added wood and leather accents, pops of color, and elevated accessories that helped make this kid-friendly home office feel warm, inviting, and functional for both kids and adults.
