Warm Transitional Home Renovation | The Amos Project Pt. 2
Welcome to The Amos Project— Part 2! This Denver area home renovation project located in the Back Country neighborhood of Lone Tree, Colorado features a remodeled kitchen, formal dining room, sitting room, and home office. Our team’s design includes custom carpentry, bespoke furnishings, metal accents, earthy textures, and modern lighting and art pieces that transformed our client’s home. The Amos Project showcases the design potential of Denver area homes, through the magic of custom carpentry, color palette choices, mixed materials, and the combination of traditional and modern accessorizing.
Take a tour of The Amos Project’s sitting room and home office renovation with Basil & Tate Founder Jackie Newell.
Our clients had lived in their Denver area home for a few years, but it was becoming a bit dated and too rustic for their taste. They came to us thinking they wanted to lighten and brighten everything up! This home had a knotty pine trim, and we decided to keep its warm wood tones while lightening the spaces just a bit.
Rather than painting it all white, we decided instead to embrace the darker wood tones of the home as a warmer look comes back into style and makes spaces feel more inviting. We gave everything in this home a facelift — from entryway to kitchen and dining, sitting room to home office. Now our clients have a fresh feeling home that is lighter and brighter — yet still warm and calming — and definitely matches their style.

The Sitting Room
This room had zero purpose before— it’s the room guests first see when walking in the front door, and our clients who had lived here for a few years had never figured out exactly what they wanted to do in this space. Through some conversation, we decided this would be a fun sitting room for the adult guests with a little bar area, so that our clients can have friends and family hang out in the space when they are entertaining.
Our design team added a beautiful leather sofa and a couple of swivel chairs to create a nice conversation area. We also added a beautiful sideboard with some textural artwork, adding interest to the center of the room. Finally, we added some wine racks on the adjacent wall to make the space feel more mature, elevated and ready to entertain guests as they walk in the door.
This formal sitting room now has a purpose, and it turned out absolutely beautiful. When friends and family enter the home, they’ll see the stunning home office on one side of the entryway and this gorgeous sitting room on the other — it definitely makes quite the impression when you walk through that front door.
The Home Office
The kitchen and dining room spaces might be in competition for ‘biggest transformation’ award with this totally redesigned home office — it doesn’t look anything like the original space! This room previously had one desk off to the side and a brown paneled back wall. Our design team worked with our 3D rendering service partner to create a custom carpentry design with built-in cabinetry for the back wall instead. We gave that rendering to our amazing carpenter, so he knew exactly what we wanted and delivered just what we envisioned.
The custom carpentry turned out exactly like the rendering, and we absolutely love it. Our client often works from home, so now he has this big beautiful desktop for a couple of computer monitors, open shelving and closed storage space, and even a smaller desk area for the kids to work on their homework, too. Form meets function!
Our client also wanted to include some family pictures, so we created a modern gallery wall on the adjacent wall to complete the space and bring it all together. We’re so excited about how this home office came to life and definitely wish it was our own.
And that’s a wrap on The Amos Project! We loved working on this home, we love its finished style, and we love our clients— they trusted our team and our vision, and let us get creative and have fun with the color palette. This project turned out absolutely stunning. Tap below to see more photos of The Amos Project home renovation!
