A Welcoming Entryway: A Blend of Vintage Charm & Modern Functionality
First impressions matter, and the entryway of The Carl Project sets the tone for the rest of the home. We opted for a shiplap feature wall in a soft, creamy white paint color, bringing in a touch of texture, while keeping the space bright and airy. The tone-on-tone styling details create a sophisticated yet understated look.
To balance beauty with practicality, we incorporated a bench layered with patterned throw pillows, offering a cozy and functional seating area. Plenty of wall hooks make it easy for guests to hang jackets, hats or bags as they enter the home.
For decor, we leaned into vintage-inspired elements, such as framed art pieces that add character, a woven basket for storage, and a wall tapestry featuring a black-and-white nature-inspired scene for an old-world touch. A neutral, textured runner placed over the warm wood floors ties everything together, creating a seamless and inviting space.
The Kitchen & Dining Room: An Elevated Neutral Design for the Heart of the Home
The heart of any home is the kitchen, and The Carl Project features a space that is both highly functional and aesthetically stunning. This Denver custom home boasts a gas range with brass detailing and a double oven, making it a home chef’s dream.
We selected white marble countertops for their timeless beauty and paired them with light warm wood upper cabinets and dark cool-tone lower cabinets to create a balanced, layered look. The contrast between these tones adds depth while maintaining an organic, earthy design. Throughout the kitchen, we incorporated brushed nickel fixtures and bronze hardware, blending metals in a way that feels intentional and modern.
A spacious island with seating for four serves as the perfect gathering spot. The wicker-and-wood material counter-height chairs bring a natural, textural element to the space that complements the two oversized pendant lights adding a touch of elegance overhead.
A SEAMLESS FLOW INTO THE DINING ROOM
The kitchen effortlessly transitions into the dining room, where we continued the soft neutral color palette to maintain cohesion. Large windows framed by curtains create an airy, inviting atmosphere with a touch of softness and sophistication.
At the center of the dining space sits a modern wood dining table, paired with black chairs for a striking yet balanced contrast. Above the table, a fabric chandelier adds an elegant focal point. To further enhance the room’s character, we incorporated a dark wood-tone sideboard table, which grounds the space beautifully. Above the sideboard, a gallery wall featuring floral art prints introduces subtle color and organic inspiration, tying the design together.
The Living Room: Cozy, Connected & Effortlessly Timeless
In the living room, we embraced a neutral and earthy design by introducing hints of blue for added warmth and personality. The stacked stone surround on the electric fireplace instantly draws the eye, while a sleek custom wood mantle enhances the modern aesthetic.
Seating in this space was designed for comfort and conversation. A large blue fabric sectional anchors the room, complemented by two traditionally-style side chairs, offering the perfect mix of modern and classic. A round wood coffee table sits at the center, while a muted-patterned area rug helps define the space and bring in extra texture.
For storage and decor, we introduced a modern bookcase styled with books, sculptural objects, and watercolor art, reinforcing the home’s calming, organic aesthetic. One of the most special aspects of this space? It overlooks the backyard deck and entertaining area, creating a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living — something we love to emphasize in Denver area homes.
